Founded in 1989 Vishwa Gujarati Samaj is an International Organization of Gujarati Community settled the world over. It has grown from strength to strength within a span of eighteen years and holds the membership of Gujaratis from 17 countries with a strength of total 933 members.

A Non Government Organization VGS is registered as a Public Trust bearing registration No.F-1927,Ahmedabad under the Bombay Public Trust and registered as society under section 80 (G) of the Indian Income Tax Act.

As a democratic Organization VGS is governed by its member and office bearers settled throughout the world. The elections are held at regular intervals of every five years and, as per the constitution formalized by VGS, the elections for the post of the President, Vice Presidents, Chairman, members of the Executive Committee are held.

One of the apex body of Vishwa Gujarati Samaj is registered as Vishwa Gujarati Samaj (U.S.A.)-INC. carporations under section 402 of the Not-For-Profit Corporation Law of the state of New York as a branch of Vishwa Gujarati Samaj. It has its principle office at Ahmedabad, India and enjoys exemption from Federal Income Tax under section 501 (A) of the Internal Revenue Code (U.S.A.).

Membership is open to all Gujaratis or to Gujarati Associations throughout the world accepting the aims and objectives of VGS. Amongst the members are prominent and leading Gujaratis and Business Organizations.

VGS provides platform for the interaction amongst the Gujaratis World over, and functions as an umbilical cord between the Gujaratis settled outside Gujarat and the people of Gujarat. It works for the growth, prosperity and progress of Gujaratis settled in different countries of the world and inspires them to cultivate the spirit of brotherhood, co-operation and to promote and preserve Gujarati language, its tradition, its culture and its cultural heritage.

Vishwa Gujarati Samaj undertakes projects and programmes in accordance with its wide objectives covering Social, Cultural, Educational and Humanitarian activities for Gujaratis settled all over the world.
